INFORMATION IS NOT KNOWLEDGE!
I want to get certain about something. I don’t want to learn something, I want to know something. I’m not trying to educate, I’m trying to get myself certain.
I’ll give you an example:
People think that knowledge is information, but information is not knowledge. Knowledge means I know what I’m doing.
But let’s say you’re going someplace you don’t know, you’re going to go to X
Today with technology I could put that destination X let’s say you’re in a car, I can put that destination X in my navigation system, I can put it on my phone, I can call Siri to give me the location.
Let’s say it’s 50 kilometers to that destination. The longer it is, the more doubt you’re going to have going there.
But once you get there, on the way home, you know where home is, It's 50 kilometers.
Exactly the same distance both ways
Which way takes longer?
I’m sure you will agree it’s on the way there. Why?
You had the map, you had the Google, you have all the information but you don’t know where you’re going.
Everybody says it took so long to get there and it was so fast getting home and that’s the difference between information and knowledge.
When you know something it takes uncertainty out of the deal and you can go fast.
So the question is how often should you do something until you know it, let’s say with any book.
You should know what the author is going to say in the book before you get there and read it, And that’s why people should repeat something because that’s when you’re like “Oh yeah I get it, I know what he means now”
How many believe this, if you read that book today and you read the same part or you read all of it over again, how many believe you would learn more from it next week than you learnt from it this week even though it’s the same data you read.
How many of you have seen a movie before, we went to the cinema next week and saw the same movie and you’re seeing scenes you didn’t see before. It’s because when you saw a scene you love, that scene captured your mind and you missed the next scene.
It’s not like you went unconscious but you became captured by this moment.
So that’s why you want to go back and repeat data till you know.
There’s power in repetition, that’s how awareness is developed, that’s how you get knowledge.
